Firefighters are still battling a large vegetation fire in Parklands, which broke out shortly before midnight.
The fire, which broke out on Sati Road in Princess Vlei, has been attended to by 7 firefighting vehicles and 27 firefighters.
The City of Cape Town's Fire and Rescue Services spokesperson Tracy Whittaker, says the fire has not yet been contained due to a strong south easterly wind.
Our crews are still working on the scene and we're being assisted by Cape Town Nature Conservation staff.— Tracy Whittaker, spokesperson for the City of Cape Town's Fire and Rescue Services
Whittaker explains that no properties are at risk, but that smoke and ash debris may affect residents in Parklands, Sunningdale and Melkbos.
She also gives an update of fire-fighting efforts on Hout Bay where a blaze has been burning for five days.
According to Whittaker, the Hout Bay veldfire is currently inaccessible to crews because it is burning high on the mountain slopes.
The cause of both fires is unknown.
