If you’re a Gauteng motorist with an outstanding traffic fine or three; you may not have to pay them if they weren’t issued in accordance with the Administrative Adjudication of Road Traffic Offences (Aarto) Act.
This is according to a ruling the High Court made on Friday.
Millions of fines issued to motorists in Gauteng since 2008 will be scrapped.
According to the Aarto Act, fines not sent by registered post are invalid.
