Tourism Minster Derek Hanekom says he is not bothered by speculation over a possible cabinet reshuffle.
Hanekom is one of the ministers who called for President Jacob Zuma to step down in November last year, but he would not be drawn on ANC NEC or Cabinet speculation.
Whether there is truth to the speculation or not I don’t know, a lot of people do their own guesswork. It would just impact negatively on my work life on my professional performance if I got obsessed with all the speculation and rumours.— Derek Hanekom, Minister of Tourism
He says he just has to continue doing his job to the best of his ability.
He is attending the Meetings of Africa conference at the Sandton Convention Centre in Johannesburg.
South Africa has been marked as one of the best conferencing destinations and the perfect space for new business opportunites.
“As it stands right now we are doing extremely well in the conferencing world. Real business is done here. Just the people that are here today, the buyers, the exhibitors and kind of transactions that will take place.— Derek Hanekom, Minister of Tourism
We are talking about direct value. It is 1.75 billion of business that will be done in the two days here.”— Derek Hanekom, Minister of Tourism
