Brewing tensions between Black Business Council and Pravin Gordhan - Malala

The Business Day reported that the Black Business Council (BBC) confirmed allegations lodged against them by Finance Minister Pravin Gordhan.

He has allegedly accused the lobby group of trying to capture the Treasury, as well as acting on behalf of a particular family.

According to Business Day, a series of statements were made in a meeting at the National Economic Development and Labour Council (Nedlac) on Friday, between Gordhan, the BBC and the council and Business Unity SA (Busa).

The newspaper reports that the meeting turned sour when the council criticised Gordhan over his budget speech, saying it fell short of President Jacob Zuma’s promise of radical economic transformation.

Political analyst Justice Malala weighs in on the matter. He says there is serious tension because the BBC has become a body that is hugely influenced by Jimmy Manyi

You will remember that Jimmy Manyi has started the decolonisation foundation through which he raised charges against Nhlanhla Nene, Trevor Manual and Pravin Gordhan and has run a relentless campaign against the finance minister.

I would say yes, Gordhan was referring to the Gupta family and the fact that their influence now extends now to the BBC.
