Spay Day helps stop the cycle of abuse and cruelty to animals - SPCA

World Spay Day is a day highlighting the importance of spaying to reduce the amount of unwanted and neglected animals in our local communities. The day was marked on Tuesday.

Belinda Abraham spokesperson for the Cape of Good Hope SPCA says animals are more prolific [at producing offspring] than humans - dogs are 15 times more prolific and cats 45 times.

She says animals needs our help to reduce their numbers. The sterilisation of animals is crucial in ensuring healthy communities and helps stop the cycle of abuse and cruelty, says Abrahams.
