Nkukhu-Box container stores bring flavour to eKasi with finest grilled chicken

Itumeleng Mpatlanyana is the founder and CEO of local fast-food franchise, Nkukhu-Box.

The entrepreneur has a passion for good food, he is also the brains behind Spykos Chisa Nyama and has been in the food industry for more than 10 years.

Nkukhu-Box is a home of grilled chicken embracing Kasi "township" flavours and lifestyle, Mpatlanyana explains.

Mpatlanyana says the first store was launched in Mamelodi West in August last year.

He says that Nkukhu-Box is a business model that tackles all of the industry challenges he's faced in the past, including expensive rental costs

We're bring something fresh and convenient to the township, with longer trading hours... We're located directly in the residential area.

The store concept is made from specially designed shipping containers, making it cost-effective and movable in and around neglected township spaces.

We don't have to rely on a shopping centers or high rent and its easy to move a store form one are to another.

He says the store serves full chicken, wings, livers and healthy version of township kota's with greens, avocado, bacon and low GI bread.

Nkukhu-Box is also operation in Jouberton township, Klerksdorp and will open in Atteridgeville, Pretoria in March along with a few others.

We're planning on rolling out nationally. We're got four shops opening up this month and another three the following month.
