Caller on top 100 water guzzlers street list says culprit is a vacant property

A caller who did not want to speak on air as she is following up with the City spoke to John Maytham about one of the streets named and shamed on Cape Town City's top 100 water users.

The owner of one of the properties on the list in Steenberg Estate says it is vacant property.

The water bill for November was R46, the water bill for January was R68 and the water bill for December was R29 000!

She says she has never fixed a leak on the lot so queries how a bill can go from R46 to R29 000 and back down to R68.
