It has emerged that the African National Congress (ANC) has decided not hold the consultative conference before the party's policy conference in June as stalwarts requested.
Last year, the ANC agreed to meet with party veterans to discuss the state of the ruling party with ANC members and civil society during the first two days of policy gathering.
According to EWN reporter, Clement Manyathela, ANC spokesperson, Zizi Kodwa, says branches of the ANC have rejected the call for the consultative conference.
It seems they do say, yes we might dedicate two days during the policy conference. They are not calling it a consultative conference. They are saying those two days will be to sit with the stalwarts and discuss their concerns.— Clement Manyathela, EWN reporter
ANC veteran's spokesperson Wally Serote told Manyathela that this decision sabotages the plan to engage properly with branches.
