International call scam will cost you big bucks

Ever wondered what the costs and possible ramifications of answering or returning calls from an unknown international number is?

Arthur Goldstuck, MD of World Wide Worx explains how and why you may be receiving these calls.

Speaking to Azania Mosaka, Goldstuck confirms that these calls are indeed a scam and advises against returning these calls.

The moment you connect that call it turns out to be a premium related number.

Returning the call could have you parting with up to R1000 warns Goldstuck.

The moment you phone back they are earning their 20, 30, 40, 60 dollars.

A listener called in to relay his experience with receiving these phone calls, saying he is phoned at least once a week and then proceeds to block the number.

A caller said funds were missing from his bank account around the same time he was receiving these calls.

Goldstuck added that in some instances it is unlikely that these calls are not connected to funds being pulled from your bank account.
