7 song lyrics listeners got horribly wrong growing up

Some of the greatest songs in history have been butchered by fans who've gotten the lyrics wrong.

It turns out many people don't know their "favourite" tracks as well as they think.

The term "mondegreen" describes a misunderstood or misinterpreted word or phrase resulting from a mishearing of the lyrics of a song.

Yes. It's a thing.

Presenter Eusebius Mckaiser kicked off the song list with an age old classic and inspired listeners to call in with their lyrical faux pas:

  • Karyn White "Superwoman"
  • Madonna "Like A Virgin"
  • Jennifer Lopez ft. Ja Rule "I'm Real (Remix)"
  • Temptations "My Lady Soul"
  • Jimmy Cliff "I Can See Clearly Now"
  • Toto "Africa"
  • Zola ft Unathi "Sana Lwami"

Take a listen to callers describe how they botched the lyrics to some popular songs:
