Phahlane admits to policing challenges at OR Tambo airport

Acting national police commissioner, Khomotso Phahlane, says he accepts that there are challenges with policing around OR Tambo International Airport.

Phahlane says the heist that took place at OR Tambo was characterised by security breaches.

One of those [questions] may be weather the police were where they were supposed to have been, whether all role players played their part in ensuring that situation is prevented.

Khomotso Phahlane, Acting National Police Commissioner

A container with high-valued items which was meant to be on one of South African Airways (SAA) flights was stolen during a heist.

A crime was committed at a national key point. It's a matter of serious concern for us. The nation has a reason to be concerned about that. There was a security breach.
