UCT campus opens next week and VC hopes peace will prevail

The University of Cape Town opens its academic doors on Monday.

Dr. Max Price, Vice Chancellor at the University of Cape Town says he hopes calm will prevail on campus.

He says the university has worked hard to get an agreement with the student protest leaders and is pleased the agreement is held.

The key trigger for the unrest was around residence.

He said is pleased the university has been able to offer accommodation for its students who had applied for places.

Dr. Price says they've also worked hard to find funding for students who are unable to pay their fees.
