Author, Leye Adenle is a Nigerian author. He says the idea for the book emerged after a conversation with his mother and two of his siblings, about violence the against women in Nigeria. He says the consensus was always that the violated women were sex workers.

In the book, Adenle also tackles issues such as prostitution, foreigners in foreign land and corruption.
