'Homelessness is not a crime'

Residents living next to Trafalgar High School are concerned about squatters that are illegally occupying the vacant land.

Cllr Suzette Little, Mayoral Committee Member for Area North says the land in question has been a challenge for a long time.

Police have been called on several occasions to clear the area and Little says as soon as they leave the squatters return.

We must remember that homelessness is not a crime.

She says they have started a forum for the homeless people who actually need help. Some have been taken to shelters and offered skills development.
