Traffic hotline launched for Johannesburg motorists

On Thursday morning, Executive Mayor of Johannesburg, Herman Mashaba, and Member of Mayoral Committee (MMC) for Public Safety, Michael Sun, announced the launch of a newly established 24-hour Traffic Hotline.

It will be run in conjunction with the Johannesburg Metro Police Department (JMPD).

Sun says the purposes of the hotline is for motorists to report road and traffic issues.

For example, where traffic congestion and traffic lights aren't working. Once a problem is lodged, a JMPD officer will be sent to the affected area, he explains.

Sun adds that this initiative will enable a direct channel between the motorist and the City.

Joburg traffic must be managed so that everybody on the roads experiences a smooth driving experience.
