Gauteng Community Safety MEC Sizakele Nkosi-Malobane says she met with 9 survivors who were raped by men driving a Quantum taxi.
The MEC says survivors revealed how they were victimised by members of the South African Police Service (Saps) and medical practitioners when reporting the incidents.
She says the three suspects appearing later in court today are only linked to one incident at the moment.
I must also say that they are not the only ones who have been arrested. There are other three people that were arrested last month that have led to the three going to court today.— Sizakele Nkosi-Malobane, Gauteng Community Safety MEC
We think there isn't one group of people involved. There are a number of people that are involved in this activity.— Sizakele Nkosi-Malobane, Gauteng Community Safety MEC
