Could the Finance Minister defy Zuma's summons?

President Jacob Zuma has ordered Finance Minister Pravin Gordhan to return home and cancel an international investment promotion roadshow starting in London on Tuesday.

This has led to increased speculation of a cabinet reshuffle or a possible recall.

Ranjeni Munusamy says there is no reason so far explaining why Zuma has summoned Gordhan and Deputy Finance Minister Mcebisi Jonas to return from the Finance Investment Roadshow.

We can only speculate that the reason behind this is a cabinet reshuffle.

Meanwhile General Secretary of FEDUSA, Dennis George is meant to join a delegation on the campaign which is aimed at restoring investor confidence.

He says they cannot back out now as meetings have already been scheduled.

I spoke to the minister this morning and he said he is looking forward to seeing me in London tomorrow morning.

Dennis George, General Secretary of Fedusa

The point is, we have a whole schedule, the meetings have been set up with these people. It would be totally irresponsible and rude.

Dennis George, General Secretary of Fedusa

Remember we have social accord with the president where on the 9/12/2015 he also pulled one of these things and that led us to have three finance ministers in one week so I think this thing is much more deeper than the President.

Dennis George, General Secretary of Fedusa

We have got a mandate, and our position is quite clear, we have been invited, we can't respond to a letter. We don't even know if it is a fake thing or not.
