Finance Minister Pravin Gordhan has confirmed that he has not resigned from his position.
The minister observed court proceedings at the High court in Pretoria on Tuesday afternoon.
He has launched an application to have the court declare that he cannot intervene in the fight between the Gupta-owned companies and the banks.
Between December 2015 and April last year, the big four banks closed the Gupta-owned company accounts. They then approached the minister for help.
Eyewitness News reporter Barry Bateman asked Gordhan about the status of his job.
He is flanked by his deputy minister Mcebisi Jonas….I put the question to him; are you still our minister of finance and he simply said to me yes.— Barry Bateman, EWN reporter
