WATCH: Axed Finance Minister briefs media post Cabinet reshuffle

President Jacob Zuma announced 20 changes to his cabinet allaying previous ongoing speculations on late Thursday evening

On Monday President Zuma instructed now axed Finance Minister, Pravin Gordhan and his deputy, Mcebisi Jonas to return home from an investors roadshow in London.

Gordhan and Jonas, who also faced Zuma’s chop have addressed Treasury staff. Hundreds could be seen outside the offices of Treasury, lobbying their support for the former deputy and finance minister.

About a year ago, Jonas confirmed that he was offered the position of finance minister by a member of the Gupta family.

Political parties have not shied away from voicing their disapproval of the President’s cabinet reshuffle.

Malusi Gigaba, former Home Affairs Minister, is the new Minister of Finance while former Prasa Board chair Sfiso Buthelezi, will serve as his deputy, replacing Mcebisi Jonas.
