Eyewitness describes cash-in-transit robbers in action

Johannesburg police have recovered two vehicles used in a cash-in-transit heist on the R24 highway on the East Rand.

The heist resulted in major traffic delays as police cordoned off the scene on Saturday.

It’s understood a gang of robbers blew up the vehicle with explosives, fleeing with an undisclosed amount of money.

An eyewitness says he was scared as the group threatened him and other motorists at gunpoint before blocking the R24 near the Barbara Road off-ramp.
