Earth tremor hits parts of Gauteng and North-West Province

An earth tremor was felt in Gauteng and parts of the North-West Province in the early hours of Monday morning.

Eldridge Khaswane, a seismologist at Council for Geoscience, says although they don't know the cause of this particular tremor, it recorded at 4.6 magnitude on the Richter scale.

He says another tremor could follow but they will be smaller than the original.

Normally in Seismology we speak about the after shock sequence, that mean just after you had your main shock there is a series of after socks that follow.

Eldridge Khaswane, seismologist at Council for Geoscience

Khaswane says they are currently investigating the cause of this tremor.
