ANC takes collective responsibility for the Cabinet reshuffle

ANC Secretary General Gwede Mantashe and other top six leaders say they are satisfied with the President's reasons for removing former finance minister Pravin Gordhan.

The party held a post-briefing on the National Working Committee meeting at Luthuli House on Wednesday.

Mantashe said they have accepted the President's reason for changing the finance minister and reshuffling Cabinet.

He said public disagreement of Zuma's actions by himself, Cyril Ramaphosa and Zweli Mkhize, was a mistake.

Clement Manyathela attended the briefing.

The ANC is not going to hold a special NEC meeting.

Jesse Duarte said they have been receiving requests but they are not going to hold the meeting which is very important because that is the meeting that has the capacity to hold the President to account.

So if there is not going to be a special NEC that means what has happened over the past couple of days has now been swept under the carpet.
