ANC lacked 'backbone' and has left Zuma's fate in the hands of opposition - EFF

The EFF's Dali Mpofu says the longer action is not taken against President Jacob Zuma's Cabinet reshuffle, the more at risk South Africa is.

He says Zuma could only be removed from office if he either resigned, was recalled by the party or through a motion of no confidence in Parliament.

According to Mpofu, it appears only the no-confidence vote is a viable option after the ANC declared its backing for Zuma following its National Working Committee (NWC) meeting.

He says that if ANC members had backbone, they could have engineered Zuma's exit themselves.

Mpofu says it is left to opposition parties to lobby support and garner at least 57 ANC votes.

They have now left in the hands of us and whether or not we'll be able to lobby sufficient support among the ANC ranks to carry the vote.

We are quite determined to ensure that Jacob Zuma is removed, and that issue has become urgent since last Friday.

Mpofu says that the newly elected Finance Minister Malusi Gigaba could sign off on dubious deals, the more time passes.

We should be afraid, there are nuclear deals in the pipelines and all sorts of things that could be done by the Gupta-friendly minister.
