President Jacob Zuma used his 75th birthday celebration to send a message to those calling on him to step down.
Zuma said he would step down if the African National Congress (ANC) asked him to do so.
The President celebrated his birthday in Soweto with ANC members, some senior leaders and members of the executive, including Water and Sanitationa Minister Nomvula Mokonyana, Social Development Minister Bathabile Dlamini and ANC deputy secretary Jessie Duarte.
Speaking in Zulu, the President said he grew up being teased and called names, so he is not bothered when people do that.
Zuma also touched on land, saying he is not pleasing anyone when he speaks about land.
