A comment in the US by President Donald Trump on Wednesday that relations between Russia and the US may be at an "all-time low" after their differences on Syria.
The remarks were made after a two-hour meeting in Moscow between his secretary of state, Rex Tillerson, and Vladimir Putin.
This meeting, according to The Guardian, failed to resolve differences on Syria, Ukraine, or Moscow’s alleged interference in the 2016 US election.
Brookes Spector, a US foreign policy expert, says Trump may not understand the complexity of the relationship between the two states.
Another theory is that he simply doesn't understand the nature of longer term strategic thinking and planning.
