School holidays can mean lots of time at home for kids and parents sometimes need ideas about what to do with them.
Creative parenting expert Nikki Bush suggests creating an art corner to allow your kids to express themselves.
Nikki offers practical ideas on setting up a permanent or semi-permanent art corner for your kids.
She also says there are a few rules to remember when interacting with your child and their artistic creation.
Never ask a child what he or she has painted, and don't label what they have painted unless they have told you this is x, y, z.— Nikki Bush, creative parenting expert
Your child may think the artwork is something completely different.
You don't want to box them or label what they've done.— Nikki Bush, creative parenting expert
She says you should not show a child how to paint or create or what colours to use.
You allow them just to create...It is really positive to allow children to express their emotions on the piece of paper...and it is lovely for them to have a safe outlet to express this.— Nikki Bush, creative parenting expert
