The first Old Mutual Two Oceans Marathon race was held in 1970 and saw 26 runners line up to take on the challenge. The race has since has grown attracting a large number of participants from all corners of the world.
On Saturday, athletes took part in the 48th edition of the race. David Katz aka Mr. Active shares some tips on how to effectively recover from the race.
Here's how to heal from sore limps and cramps:
Keep moving, keep walking to keep the blood flowing.
Do active and light exercises.
Rest for at least a week before returning to your normal training routine.
Do not partake in another race a week after completing a marathon.
If you develop growing body pains it is important to see a sports physician or physiotherapist as soon as possible.
