"Total madness" on WC roads claims 23 lives

Western Cape Traffic Chief, Kenny Africa, described what happened on the roads during the Easter weekend as "total madness".

Africa says there were 23 fatalities on Western Cape roads since last Thursday.

According to Africa 37 drunk drivers were arrested this weekend with the highest reading of 1,3ml which is 9 times over the legal limit.

These type of accidents that we had on our roads, people taking chances, overtaking at places it is not safe to do so and endangering not only their own lives but also those of passengers and other road users.

Africa says they are concerned with the number of motorists who are driving drunk on the roads. He spoke of a man who was caught driving drunk with five children in a car and he was immediately arrested.
