[LISTEN] The Virtual Reality movement in SA: Being present

Tyrone Rubin is the founder of SenseVirtual and the Virtual Reality South Africa community.

He spoke to Azania Mosaka about the commercial use of virtual reality, as well as the training and educational benefits associated with the technology.

SenseVirtual has worked with the likes of Orlando Pirates to create a 360 degree virtual film for children to get a feel of the team's training sessions.

Rubin explains how the technology is by far the most immersive medium he has experienced.

What virtual reality does is tap into the sense of sight and the sense of audio, transporting you into a virtual world.

Tyrone Rubin, Founder of Sensevirtual

The realness is this holy grail experience where anyone creating something in VR tries to get presence.

Tyrone Rubin, Founder of Sensevirtual

A lot of the experiences are just immersive, so you are watching a sporting event just to feel like you are there but the sense of presence is when VR is used to actually make you believe you are in that place.
