The Eyethu Skate Park initiative in Hout Bay has launched a crowdfunding campaign with the hopes of raising R650 000 to create the public venue.
The campaign was launched on Indigogo at the beginning of the month and according to Vicki Scheffel, project co-ordinator at Eyethu Skate Park Initiative, it has about weeks left.
We just felt there needed to be a space where we can get the kids off the streets. It's incredibly dangerous skating on public roads.— Vicki Scheffel, project co-ordinator at Eyethu Skate Park Initiative
The skate park will be used by any of Hout Bay's 9 000 youngsters and those from other parts of the world.
