Nelson Mandela Foundation welcomes CoCT's Madiba Legacy Route

CEO of the Nelson Mandela Foundation, Sello Hatang, says the foundation has been in talks with the City of Cape Town to create a Madiba Legacy Route to connect Robben Island, City Hall as well as The Parade.

Hatang says the foundation fully supports the idea as it will create more opportunities for the people of Cape Town.

As you take this walk, people will be aware that Madiba touched this place... so it is public education as well as creating opportunities for jobs.

Hatang says the Foundation has been advising cities and companies all over the world not to commercialise Madiba's name but they are happy if people create opportunities around the name as a way of memorialising the man.
