New evidence comes to light in Ipid's probe against top cop
The Independent Police Investigative Directorate's (Ipid) latest evidence shows that between 2014 and 2016, police acting commissioner Khomotso Phahlane sold or traded several cars and was paid well above the book price for the vehicles.
EWN Barry Bateman says a pattern is visible in these particular deals between Phahlane and the car dealership.
It just doesn't make business sense for the dealership to be doing this and it certainly raises questions.Barry Bateman, EWN reporter
Bateman says this accusation ties in with the building of Phahlane's house where service providers were paid in cash. The money was paid to the service provider in plastic bags from the back of Phahlane's car.
If you look at the sales of these vehicles, there was money laundering and it raises further questions about how his house was paid for, and this is how Ipid explains the continuation with this investigation.Barry Bateman, EWN reporter
