Zuma doesn't consider Ramaphosa as someone that should succeed him - analyst

Deputy President, Cyril Ramaphosa has severely criticised the governing party, saying it is riddled with corruption and is no a longer a leader of society.

Ramaphosa was speaking at the Chris Hani memorial lecture in Uitenhage in Port Elizabeth on Sunday.

EWN Reporter, Clement Manyathela was at the memorial lecture. He says Ramaphosa receive a warm welcome by the supporters of the African National Congress (ANC).

Manyathela says Ramaphosa told the crowds that he supports the judicial inquiry into the state capture as recommended by former public protector's report on the alleged influence of the Gupta family on the State and President Jacob Zuma.

Manyathela says Ramophosa's remarks may see him face disciplinary actions when the ANC top meets for bringing division into the party.

President Jacob Zuma was speaking at a commemoration of the Musa Dladla Region freedom fighters in Empangeni at the weekend and told supporters that there are enemies seeking to divide the ANC. EWN Reporter Ziyanda Ngcobo covered that event.

The President is striking a completely different tone to his deputy.

He was even jokingly saying: I know things, and let me tell you, in these discussions these so-called outside forces say if you want to control South Africa you need to control the ANC and if you want to control the ANC you need to have a leader that you can control.

Ziyanda Ngcobo, EWN Reporter

Ngcobo says President Zuma was warmly received by the crowd that filled the hall to capacity.

Political Analyst, Professor Sipho Seepe spoke to Ray White saying all the events of the weekend including the addresses by both Zuma and Ramaphosa exposes the contradictions within the ANC.

Members of the ANC spend more time attacking each other than talking about what they stand for.

Seepe says Zuma doesn't consider deputy President Ramaphosa as someone that should succeed him.
