Task team appointed to assist families of the Bronkhorstspruit crash

A horrific accident that saw 20 people, 18 of them schoolchildren, perish on the Groblersdal Road, near Bronkhorstspruit in Gauteng, has left family and friends of the deceased traumatised.

According to reports, a minibus taxi collided with a truck and immediately burst into flames.

EWN Reporter, Masa Kekana, says two assembly meetings were held at the children's schools. Gauteng Education MEC Panyaza Lesufi and Minister of Basic Education, Angie Motshekga both attended.

A task team has been established to assist everyone affected by this accident, including funeral arrangements.

Of the 20 that passed away, 19 were not recognisable because they were burnt beyond recognition.

Kekana says no funeral arrangements can be made at the moment until the DNA processes have been completed to establish victims' identities.

She says the details of what exactly transpired are still sketchy and investigations are being conducted to find out what happened.

At the moment we do know that the 22 seater taxi had 27 people who were in it.
