The South African Federation of Unions (Saftu) chose its leadership over the weekend appointing Mac Chavalala as its president and former Congress of South African Trade Unions (Cosatu) head Zwelinzima Vavi as its general-secretary.
Speaking to CapeTalk/702's Ray White Vavi says they have made history by pulling over 700 000 members, which is something no one has ever done before.
We can declare without fear that the labour market will never be the same and South Africa will not be the same again.— Zwelenzima Vavi, General Secretary of SA Federation of Trade unions
A movement that is totally politically uncompromised has just been given birth by 24 unions representing 700 000 members.— Zwelenzima Vavi, General Secretary of SA Federation of Trade unions
Vavi says the movement will not be helping any faction of the ANC, vowing to remove the ANC led government.
