Far-right Macron and Le Pen top round one of French Presidential elections

The people of France have spoken. Far-right populist Marine Le Pen and Emmanuel Macron have progressed to the second round of the country's presidential election on 7 May.

Neither candidate hails from the established parties that have led the country for decades.

Macron topped the voting with 23.9% and right behind him was Le Pen with 21.4%.
