Irritated by funeral, household, and car insurance pitches that are sent to your phone without consent?
Vice-chair and head of the legal portfolio at WASPA (Wireless Application Service Providers Association), Anthony Ekerold, says people sometimes give consent without knowing.
He says some of the online forms have a section where they ask for consent to give your information to third parties for marketing purposes and people tick it without being aware.

Ekerold addressed issues around who is liable for the opt out costs saying that its a transmission cost which the marketing firm does not benefit from. The money simply goes to the network provider for transmitting the message.
