HouseME property bid platform bridging gap between tenants and landlords

Ben Shaw is the CEO and founder of HouseME, an online portal designed to disrupt the rental property market.

HouseME, a new mobile application and web portal, uses an online auction mechanism where landlords receive bids on their rental properties from prospective tenants eager to secure their ideal accommodation.

It offers a digital platform that connects tenants to landlords and also facilitates a mutually beneficial relationship between them, Shaw explains.

We're the first kind of such kind of platform that looks to genuinely serve both sides of the rental equation.

The unique auction mechanism connects verified landlords to quality and creditworthy tenants and helps optimise the environment for fair pricing, support, transparency and reduced risk for both parties.

Shaw says he identified several problems in the rental market and aims to use the HouseME platform to improve on those areas.

Such market issues include high and dubious estate agent fees, poor tenant vetting and credit screenings.

The way we've identified that rental can be something made more efficient is a very good example of how technology can create disruption.

You have to ask: is something good because it has always been done in a particular way? If that's the reason we continue to do it, then it probably means it's right for disruption.

Ben Shaw, CEO and founder of HouseME

He says many landlords and prospective tenants have come to settle and accept that property hunting has to be a painful experience.

HouseME launched six months ago and has already dominated over established estate agents, with over 900 independent landlords registered and 1 400 signed up.

We're growing at about 30% month on month and we're very excited about what lies ahead.

Shaw explains how the HouseME platform works and how his entrepreneurial journey led him on this path.
