Funny Girl: The Barbara Streisand hit musical is on at the Fugard Theatre

An all new production of Funny Girl, The Musical is on at the Fugard Theatre in Cape Town.

The classic piece of theatre, is a semi-biographical musical based on the life and career of Broadway star, film actress and comedienne Fanny Brice.

Director, Matthew Wild talks about the demanding role that the main character takes on.

If you are going to do the piece, you really have to know that you have got a lead actress who is going to be spectacular and the starting place for us was searching South Africa for someone who is going to do it justice.

She is a very experienced actor but none of us had any idea that she was going to be a singer of that astonishing ability as well.
