Food Feature: Bespoke theatre experience that is Forti Grill & Bar

On Friday afternoon, Azania Mosaka broadcast live from the newly launched Time Square Casino in Menlyn Maine, Tshwane.

Mosaka was treated to a delectable lunch at Forti Grill & Bar with head chef and owner Fortunato Mazzone.

Fortunato grew up in his father's restaurants and later worked in the now famous Giovanni's restaurants all through school.

We come from a small village in Italy. My father came to this country like a lot of Italians of that age after the war.

I'm a trained economist by profession.

After his studies and a stint in teaching, Mazzone rejoined the family business full time and was the general manager of South Africa's largest Italian Operation Giovanni's at the Carousel.

Mazzone also took up wine courses culminating in the Diploma II course with the Cape Wine Academy and slowly grew to love the kitchen more and more.

He says Forti Grill & Bar is unlike any other restaurants in the country.

The entire restaurant is bespoke. Everything was created to be a unique experience.

Our whole kitchen is a giant theatre.

Mazzone says he grew up in household that loved music, art and embodied happiness which is reflected in his restaurant.
