Drive-by shooting claims life of rising soccer player and two others

Deputy Chair of Elsies River CPF, Imraahn Mukaddam, described the the drive-by shooting that left three people dead and another 10 injured, as an act of terror.

This was random shooting done by maniacs with the intent to do as much damage as they can to our community.

Imraahn Mukaddam, Deputy Chair at Elsies River CPF

We don't see this as just a gang related crime, this is much deeper - a total attack on our society and community...

Imraahn Mukaddam, Deputy Chair at Elsies River CPF

Mukaddam says the community was saddened by how ambulances were reluctant to go to the scene even with a police escort. He says it was heartbreaking to witness young children from the community having full view of paramedics trying to resuscitate an injured person.

According to Mukaddam, a 17-year-old who died on the scene was a rising soccer star who he had a bright future.

The community is saddened by the death of this young man who was rising above the odds, says Mukaddam.

It was like a movie happening in front of you... We are really losing the cream of our crop.
