Online education company GetSmarter is sold for $103 million

GetSmarter, an online education company based in Cape Town and London, has been sold to 2U for $103 million and an earn-out payment of up to $20 million in cash.

GetSmarter CEO Sam Paddock says they are delighted to create value for their shareholders and building a stronger business with their partners.

GetSmarter collaborates with leading universities to offer online short courses to working professionals.

Paddock says part of the deal is that their executive management will stay on to build the business.
