What you need to know about French president elect Emmanuel Macron

French President-elect Emmanuel Macron won the presidential elections after beating the far-right nationalist candidate Marine le Pen.

Stephen Grootes speaks to EWN French correspondent, Elaine Cobbs, about Macron and what his presidency might bring to the country.

Cobbs says Macron will become France's youngest president and is in favor of loosening France's labour laws in order to push business.

The former investment banker is also pro-European and wants to bring the people of France and Europe together.

He said I'm aware there are divisions but I want to work for all of France, and he said I will defend European value- our way of life and values.
