[LISTEN] Mother recounts how child was murdered

In light of recent child murders, Zukiswa called into Kieno Kammies to share how her toddler was kidnapped and murdered in Khayelithsa in 2010.

The Khayelitsha Development Forum (KDF) has called for urgent interventions following the killing of two toddlers in less than a week.

On Sunday Cape Town police arrested a Khayelitsha father for the rape and murder of his two-year-old daughter.

The 25-year-old suspect, who had recently been released from prison, was taken into custody following the toddler's death on Sunday morning. The suspect is expected to appear in court this week.

In a separate incident body of four-year-old Iyapha Yamile was found in a plastic bag, allegedly dumped near her aunt’s house.

Zukiswa asks parents to be vigilant.

I for one have decided to move away from the location after this incident happened and I have been trying to move on but you can't move on from that. Especially if each time you are driving there is a post, or its in the news that there is another child missing or who has been murdered.

Zukiswa, CapeTalk caller

After what happened to my daughter, I thought bringing a child into this world, this world is so evil I would rather not have kids.
