Dr Schomer identifies and unpacks five key factors to creating the best working conditions.
1. The right workload
Dr Schomer says an excessive workload can leave employees feeling overwhelmed and stretched, particularly without support.
He advises that resentment grows among employees who are not reaffirmed or remunerated for their efforts.
3. Aligned values
According to Dr Schomer, individuals cannot flourish if their personal values clash with the ethics of a company.
He explains that employees need to feel that their grievances are heard, that due process is followed when evaluating performance and that there are equal opportunities for promotion.
Dr Schomer says that employees need to feel that they belong and are a part of a tribe, or else tensions and feelings of isolation can creep in.
