ReWare's Nothando Moleketi empowering people with access to low-cost smartphones

Nothando Moleketi is the COO and co-founder of ReWare, a cash-saving alternative for smartphone users.

ReWare provides a range of high-end, certified pre-owned (CPO) smartphones to cater for those who cannot afford the often steep price of brand new devices.

We sell certified pre-owned, Apple and Samsung devices at affordable prices.. You can get an iPhone 4S from R2000.

[We are] talking to a market that wants to access these brands but just can't afford it. Not everyone can afford an R18 000 device.

The Harare-born entrepreneur explains that ReWare formalises the trade of second-hand smartphones by buying devices from international partners.

The phones are refurbished where need be, repackaged and certified with a 1-year warranty, which means that customers have access to a secure, formalised CPO proposition.

Moleketi explains how she identified a gap in the market and need for CPO smartphone devices at an affordable rate, with a reliable record - unlike many online classifieds websites.

She says that ReWare appeals to the aspirations of consumers who would not typically have access to these devices.

The company started in August 2014 with a buy-back program and then later launched the ReWare commercial brand in Edcon stores across the country.

Moleketi works with a team of 14 permanent staff and also runs an ongoing internship programme for engineering graduates, in addition to a warehousing team abroad.

They are currently in 160 Edgars, Edgars Connect, Jet and Jet Mart store countrywide, alternatively you can visit the ReWare website.
