Gupta-owned Tegeta 'advantaged' by gaps in Eskom contract, says Scopa chair

Parliament has heard of irregularities and discrepancies in a coal supply contract between Eskom and Gupta-owned company, Tegeta.

Treasury officials briefed Parliament's Standing Committee on Public Accounts (Scopa) on Wednesday.

Scopa chair Themba Godi explains that a report by PricewaterhouseCoppers (PwC) indicates that several procedures were flouted.

Gaps were identified and it appears some of these gaps remained there, to the advantage of Tegeta.

Godi says that Eskom has not disputed the findings of the PwC report, and has acknowledged some oversight in the signing of the contract.

According to Godi, the power utility will be called to face Parliament and answer to the committee in the next two weeks.
