An online game called Blue Whale has made international headlines for the dangers it poses and is allegedly linked to about 130 deaths. The game is believed to have originated in Russia and is not yet available in South Africa.

Madurai says the creator of the game, based in Russia has reportedly come forward with his reason for creating this game.
While there are claims the game is a hoax and is being reported as 'fake news', she says the creator has spoken out about the reasons behind the game.
The creator said he believes he is clearing the earth of waste. Madurai adds that awareness needs to be created and look at how teenagers are using their mobile and digital devices.
