Planned road closures along N1 on Old Oak road this weekend

Motorists can expect road closures on N1 Highway, both ways between Old Oak Road and the R300 Interchange, starting Friday evening.

Old Oak Bridge will be demolished to begin work on a multimillion rand upgrade.

As part of this project, a 9km stretch of the N1, which extends from the Plattekloof changer to the R300, will be improved.

EWN Traffic reporter Zain Johnson has more details.

There are two bridges, the one the city side and the one on the Kraaifontein side. Only the one on the city side is going to be taken down. That bridge was built in the 1960's, it does not accommodate for a third lane so that is why they have to take it down.
