Molefe's return to Eskom an insult to all SA citizens, warns BLSA

Business Leadership South Africa (BLSA) says the reinstatement of former Eskom CEO Brian Molefe is an insult to all South Africans.

BLSA chairman Jabu Mabuza says that the entire Eskom board needs to be expelled, reports EWN's Stephen Grootes.

Mabuza argues that Molefe's return makes a mockery of his original statement when he announced his resignation in November last year.

On Friday morning, Eskom announced that it had decided to re-appoint Molefe as its CEO.

Minister of Public Enterprises Lynne Brown briefed the media on developments at Eskom and says Molefe's return to the power utility is a better option than paying him a R30 million retirement package.

Brown says acting Eskom CEO Matshela Koko is on leave until an investigation into contracts awarded to his step-daughter is concluded.

Grootes explains that Corruption Watch has condemned the developments, has and pointed out the Molefe did not retire, but instead resign.

Meanwhile, Corruption Watch plans to take court action in an effort to declare all the Eskom board members delinquent.
